Unauthorized distributors More and more companies are selling ionizers that have no right doing so. We are hearing a lot about consumers receiving used or refurbished units and having trouble with warranties because they bought from an unauthorized distributor. It's great to buy from a distributor, but call the manufacturer first to verify that they are authorized to sell the product that you are buying. Useless Gadgets Stay away from things that do absolutely nothing like UV lights. Also, don't pay extra for things that should be standard like mesh plates. Mesh plates are definitely the only way to go, but don't pay more for it, because some of the best machines offer it at no additional cost. Useless gadgets are becoming more and more prevalent. The marketing hype is getting out of hand. Some companies are charging extra for silly things like UV lights, and some are even charging for mesh plates which we think should be a standard option. UV light must shine through something clear. Over time the clear surface will likely become covered by lime scale and the light will become useless. Also, UV light is usually required to have contact with water for longer than 3 seconds, this is not possible with the flow rate of most ionizers. Most importantly, the ionization and electrolysis process will kill most bacteria anyway, so there is no need to spend extra money for useless gadgets. Free Extra Filters Do not let anyone give you an extra filter. The active ingredients that are in the filter lose their potency after about a year. It is best to NOT stock up on filters and buy them when you need them. Make sure you are buying from a company that has a long history of being in business.
